Melissa's brother is playing in a basketball tournament at the local community center. Each family is expected to have someone helping in some way at the center. Her mom volunteers Melissa to help at the concession stand so her parents can watch her brother play. Melissa wants to go to a sleepover at her friend's house the night before but knows she will not get any sleep if she does and will therefore be cranky during the tournament. She tells her friend she cannot come to the sleepover and instead goes to the community center on Saturday morning to help at the concession stand. What type of motivation is Melissa showing?
