OpenStudy (anonymous):

I warned someone about the Code of Conduct of Open Study and then a mod kicked me out of Mathmatics, why? I got issued a warning first saying "accusing someone of cheating without evidence" but it was obvious it was copied and pasted... all I did was say it was against the CoC and now I'm kicked from Math. I want an explanation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Conqueror

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@e.mccormick

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Well, how do you know it was copied and pasted?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You were there @Conqueror , I am taking the same course and I've seen that question on an exam I took

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also the question was labeled out perfectly as if it were copied and pasted.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Link....?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can't cause I'm kicked out of Mathmatics ><

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You were there, you said you got the same warning remember?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Conqueror ? I have been abandoned... No one gets left behind man :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@asatt32

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Try messaging mods.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I HAVE T-T ....meep......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you serious?!? thats pathetic, some people need this for school and dont use it as social media like i know @LearningIsAwesome uses it for school becuase it a useful tool. I think its BS that she got blocked byy and mod when he was doing the job they were suppoed to be doing

OpenStudy (conqueror):

Yeah, mods warn people or ban people without evidence sometimes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm a he and you know it. Like, literally, you KNOW this. @asatt32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganeshie8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@AravindG

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@SolomonZelman @amistre64

OpenStudy (abhisar):

You can rejoin mathematics !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Give me the link to that post

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Yes, go to find more subjects---> Mathematics

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Holy crap you can just go back just like that o.o didn't know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/53cd453be4b081ba9638ce65 The mod deleted all the evidence cause he's just a coward abusing his power

OpenStudy (amistre64):

kicking doesnt ban you from a subject, it just gets your attention and boots you out so that you just have to reenter the room.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and if you want to call me a coward for doing my job ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh so it was you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why did you kick me? I didn't do anything.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

See no mod can abuse his powers. They need top have astrong evidence in order to take any action.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you kept posting in a question that i kept having to delete all your comments in since they were considered to be spam.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My comments were spam? No they weren't I was just listing the CoC to the asker. And I did it politely too

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you think someone is cheating, or breaking the rules of their school, then contact the school officials. dont make openstudy a place for you to brandish your accusations in.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

IF a post is blatantly going against our own rules, then there is no recourse we have other than a suspension. but if they are simply asking a question, then we are not here to accuse them of any ill intentions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are so full of it. I was recommended by another mod that if we see cheating to tell them the Code of Conduct once politely, and then if they don't listen, just report them and leave.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And that's what I did.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and your multiple postings on their question was what then? just you following orders?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, they asked me questions about what I told them and so I answered their questions about the CoC, what's wrong with that?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you think my senility has gotten the better of me, feel free to voice our concerns to the owners of the site. But until then, when I am in a question and doing my responsibilities it is not your 'place' to assume im just being an idiot.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

*voice your .... i swear these fat fingers are going to be the death of me lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I never called you an idiot. I never assumed you were being an idiot.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

"You are so full of it" "The mod deleted all the evidence cause he's just a coward abusing his power" your implications are well received.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but you shouldn't have kicked me for just informing them, then when they asked questions about it I answered, where is the wrong doing there? You say you were doing your job but is it your job to kick people who aren't doing anything wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Tell me what I did wrong, I wanna know.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i told you why i kicked you, i told you why i deleted your commentary.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

ok let's take it easy @LearningIsAwesome ! He just kicked you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because it was spam? Even though there's one problem with that, it wasn't spam.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, this time he just kicked me.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Next time he'll be banning for no reason too

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Finally, if you do make a mistake, please be respectful to the moderators. Moderators are the users whose names are in purple. If you go outside the code of conduct, one of them will likely contact you. If they do, listen to what they have to say and be polite. If you are issued a temporary suspension because of a Code of Conduct violation, just wait until your suspension is expired. Go read a book, throw a football, unwind, and come back when the suspension is over. If you create new accounts to bypass a suspension, you will be permanently banned from the site. No questions asked. If you are permanently banned, or you feel you did not deserve a suspension that you were issued, feel free to email abuse@openstudy.com to discuss your suspension with one of the OpenStudy team members.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it was spam. it had nothing to do with the question that was posted. it was simply an accusation that someone was using the site to post questions from ... whats the place, begins with a c ... oh yeah, connections academy becuase you had the same question.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

@amistre64 Me and @LearningIsAwesome have recently discovered people are cheating and getting away with it on openstudy. We decided to stop it by going to posts and identifying them as belonging to test questions. We haven't done any harm, we're just trying to do your job.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you think someone is blatantly breaking the rules of their own school, then contact a mod. if they are simply posting something that you think is against their schools code of conduct, contact their school officials.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you cant simply go about accusing people of posting their test questions without some verifiable proof.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

See you can accuse someone posting test questions as cheaters. What if someone wants to ask a question he/she was not able to do after their tests ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

*can not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"This question breaks the CoC of open study" <--- the subject of that sentence is the question, so 1. It did have to do with the question and 2. Just trying to help and keep the integrity of open study just like the mods don't do whenever we tag them. And I had evidence which I've already presented a thousand times.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we know there is cheating going on, and the best way to prevent it is for the people answering a question not to give out full answers, and do all the work for the,.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

If u think someone is chesting then the best way is to cross question them. Guide them to the result without telling them the exact answers !

OpenStudy (abhisar):

*cheating

OpenStudy (conqueror):

@amistre64 We did their work before, it's FLVS. And the questions that come from it come from tests. You don't know this, because you haven't done FLVS before.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats the issue, you think you know better than the mods, and assume that we do nothing to bend to your whims.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

right, i dont know what questions are form tests and such; and i am obliged to assume the askers innocence and not their guilt until they there is proof otherwise

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We have tagged mods thousands of times when we see cheating and no one ever does anything or even comes to the question. So yeah, the mods don't really care, but WE DO. So we're gonna help out as much as we can, don't punish us for it.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

So we should just leave it to you mods to do the stuff you're supposed to do even though you aren't doing it? Fine, if you want it that way we won't stop people from cheating and breaking the rules of openstudy. We just wanted to help this site to become "cheat-free" but since you don't want it to be that's fine by me. Good day to you all.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the proof tends to be of the form: "this is from a test"; "hurry up i am timed"; can you just give me the answer"; and the over so obvious "is anyone going to this school and has taken this test"

OpenStudy (abhisar):

I disagree u @LearningIsAwesome on the point that mods do nothing. On the contrary whenever i have reported a real issue mods where there at the next moment.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lol, yeah ... your deductive reasoning skills need to be honed a little better.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not in my experience @Abhisar and I never said mods do nothing.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

maybe its inductive reasoning? i get the 2 confused

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Sometimes it happens that what we think is an issue in reality is not a issue.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

It's like you're a different person @Abhisar You would usually agree with us, but I think you're just trying to get a good impression on the mods so they might appoint you to a moderator.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

cheating is an issue, but we are just not in a position to assume everyone as guilty. we may know they are guilty, but that evidence tends to come out in conversation, and very rarely as a result of a posted question.

OpenStudy (conqueror):

I was in the english section today, I found out someone kept posting questions repetitively and kept telling people to just give her the answer. I kept reporting her on the questions she was saying and got a warning for doing so.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We don't assume everyone is guilty, but when it's obvious we'll intervene. I'LL intervene. and if you punish me for it then go ahead but I won't stop helping, this site can be even better

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lol, if your version of helping turns into vigilante justice then dont get upset when the real enforcers have to hand you the bitter cup.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ghandi broke the rules, but was willing to face the consequences.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's pretty much a threat, very professional.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its not a threat. you are not above reproach.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I won't stand by and let cheating happen without a polite warning and a report. Which is not breaking the rules.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when your actions become rule breaking, then you will be dealt with just as every other rule breaker. which in the grand scheme of things is rather meager and benign ... but still.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

No one is against the fact that cheating should not take place. But u cannot simply expect a mod or any one else to believe that cheating is going on without any evidence. Even if u know that cheating is going ...

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Law is BLIND !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did have evidence, and I shall get evidence.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

most people who simply want a direct answer will move on if they have to think about the question, they want something quick and easy, so we try our best to draw it out and make them come to their own conclusions.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

your evidence was: i had the same question on my test. which is not openstudy related, but school related. and like i stated time a time again on this post: take it up with the school officials

OpenStudy (amistre64):

love is blind, law is just outdated:)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

If u think that someone is just to cheat then ask him cross questiuons. If he refuses to respond then move ahead.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

ThaAT that point u know that he was just to cheat but u can not report that as cheating !!

OpenStudy (abhisar):

*at

OpenStudy (amistre64):

emickormic just gave a warning, maybe we can al go badger his judgement? just a thought

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you quit responding your going to have to make me go be bored with the cheaters .... you dont want to do that do you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh don't worry I'm here

OpenStudy (amistre64):

... its like living with my ex, just sits there giving me the silent treatment lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can't blame your ex. I would be silent if I had to live with you too. You'd kick me out for washing your dishes for you xD lol
