What is the minimum number of identical containers of 8 by 6 round containers that you would need to make 2000 cm3 of ice? (Use π = 3.14.)

OpenStudy (lasttccasey):

By round container is it referring to a cylinder?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (lasttccasey):

Okay and 8 by 6, is that 8 cm tall and 6 cm in diameter?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (lasttccasey):

So the volume of a single cylinder is,\[V=\pi r^2h\] We need to find the volume of one cylinder first. From here take the 2000 cm^3 and divide it by the volume of one cylinder. This will give you the number of cylinders required.
