A strawberry plant is an example of a plant that can reproduce through the process of vegetative reproduction. Are the offspring of the strawberry plant genetically identical or genetically different from the parent? Explain your answer.
Hello @_SebasQ !
asexual reproduction does not involve two parents and meiosis (which actually produces genetic variations via chromosomal cross over) for reproduction.
Now can u temme is strawberry genetically similar or dissimilar to their parents ?
@Abhisar Since strawberries produce asexually, and asexual reproduction produces genetic variants. Wouldn't that mean that they're similar?
Dear, asexual reproduction does not produce any variations. The offsprings of asexual reproduction are xactly identical to each other and to their parents.
Now the question tells you that strawberries produce through vegetative reproduction which is a kind of asexual reproduction. So they will be genetiacally identical to their parents and to themselves.
Oh, I see what you were saying before. Thank you for clearing that up. I appreciate the help. @Abhisar
