im not sure what method that would be, but it might include prime factorizations

GCD is the intersection, or the prime factors they have in common LCM is the union, or inclusion of all the prime factors

18 = {2,3,3} 10 = {2,5} GCD = 2, LCM = 2,3,3,5 (90)
