What is the value of the expression 87 – 8t + t3 – 23 when t = 3?
49
67
you plug in 3 for whenever there is a t so 87-24 is 63, 63+9 is 72, 72-23 is 49, so 49 is the answer
wait but wouldnt you have to do order of operation first?
87 – 8*3 + 3*3 – 23 87-24+9-23 63+9-23 72-23 49
@DinaGotIt
oh okay..
no not in this case, due to there not being any exponents or division, you plug in and solve
Dina you were right you must use order of operations thats what ferguson forgot
no you always use order of operations because you have to multiply @fergusonb7
but @fergusonb7 there are exponents
no you plug in the 3 where the X is and solve, you don't need to use the order of operations @stupid12 , afterall you did get 67 first, and there are not, you gave an equation, if there were exponents you would of put t^3 which would equal 9 but 8^3 with be 512. @DinaGotIt
ur wrong whenever youre doing algebra you have to do order of operations
yea thats true didnt you see that exponent?
I'm not going to sit here and argue with you, I didn't use order of operations because it is not needed, AT ALL, and considering who got the correct answer first should determine whose right and whose wrong, but maybe your right about in algebra, because I am in AP AB Calc @stupid12 and if there are exponents then you answer would be -439, so I believe that there is not any exponents
