Look above on my comments? was i doing it wrong? i thought i was following pedmas
OpenStudy (kva1992):
alright your good so far
OpenStudy (kva1992):
20/6 = 10/3
OpenStudy (kva1992):
and after that you have to add still
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so it would make it 24?

OpenStudy (kva1992):
so you would have to do 10/3 +4= 10/3 + 16/4 = 40/12 + 48/12
OpenStudy (anonymous):
where did you get 16 from?
OpenStudy (kva1992):
which will equal 86/12 = 7 1/6
OpenStudy (anonymous):
why is it 16/4
OpenStudy (kva1992):
that should be your answer

OpenStudy (kva1992):
because you make the 4 into a fraction
OpenStudy (kva1992):
an improper fraction
OpenStudy (kva1992):
so 4 is the same as 16/4
OpenStudy (anonymous):
im confused..im lost at the 16/4
OpenStudy (anonymous):
answer is 7 1/3

OpenStudy (kva1992):
opps i ment 1/3 sorry
OpenStudy (kva1992):
alrigt so divide 16/4
what does that give you?
OpenStudy (kva1992):
or better yet if you have 1/4 - 1 what do you do usually?
OpenStudy (kva1992):
make the 1 a whole right?
OpenStudy (kva1992):
so the 1 becomes 4/4

OpenStudy (kva1992):
your doing the same thing only difference is you have a 4 rather than a one so you would do
OpenStudy (kva1992):
3 4/4 and multiply 3 times 4 which gives you 12 plus 4 which gives you 16 and put that over 4
OpenStudy (kva1992):
so you get 16/4
