They be reciprocals. Pretty much the same thing.
When you find the tangent of a ratio you are finding the value of the angle taking the side opposite that angle over the side adjacent to that angle. When you find the cotangent of that angle, you have the side adjacent over the side opposite so the value is opposite of what tangent's value is. Take for instance |dw:1406006926436:dw|
