How might an increase in the rate of photosynthesis affect the conditions necessary for cellular respiration?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, photosynthesis is the process by which plants make chemical energy from the sun. It uses carbon dioxide and water, and produces oxygen gas and sugar. As you know, cellular respiration uses the opposite equation. It uses oxygen and sugar to create carbon dioxide and water. If there is an INCREASE in the rate of photosynthesis, there will be more oxygen released into the air. Thus, the rate of cellular respiration will also increase, as more oxygen will be used in the process of cellular respiration. Therefore, an increase in the rate of photosynthesis will increase the rate of cellular respiration. Hope this helps!
