The function graphed below is a cubic function. f(a)=-f(2). Which of the following could be the value of a? a) -2 b) -1/2 c) 0 d) 1/2 e) 2 Thank you for your time!!!
Where is the graph?
Here it is! :)
Hint: From the graph, \(f(2)=0\).
Hmm, would that be because when you plug in the 2, it turns into -2, which is (0,-2) where the line passes though?
Wait. I did something wrong again lol. \(f(2)=-4\) I am very sorry.
its 0
Ooooh! I see it now! Thank you very much!!! :)
What's your answer then?
Well if you plug in f(0) that equals -2, so it should be 0 then, right?
From the graph, \(f(2)=-4\) so \(f(a)=-(-4)=4\). To find the value(s) of \(a\), draw a line at \(y=4\) and check the x-coordinate of each intersection of the \(y=4\) line and \(f(x)\). I think the answer would be \(a=\dfrac{1}{2}\). There are other intersections but they are not options so we ignore them.
Wow, that's way more complicated than I thought haha XD Thanks a lot for the explanation! I'll work it out with those pointers and I'll check if it's 1/2 or something else! Thanks a lot!
