Need Help!!! A rectangle has an area of 432 square centimeters and a width of 18 centimeters. What is the length of the rectangle? A. 24 centimeters B. 48 centimeters C. 18 centimeters D. 36 centimeters I think it's D. But I'm not sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 24

OpenStudy (anteater):

Start with the formula for the area of a rectangle. A = length times width

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok

OpenStudy (anteater):

They give you the area and the width, and they want you to find the length. So, in order to find the length, what would you have to do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide 432 and 18?

OpenStudy (anteater):

Yep :)

OpenStudy (anteater):

And so what do you end up with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

24

OpenStudy (anteater):

Yes :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks anteater :D

OpenStudy (anteater):

You're welcome :) And taylor is right, but it helps to double check.
