medals!!! The sum of four consecutive integers is 762. Find the fourth integer.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

consecutive integers come one right after the other. So the first one is x, the second one is x+1, the third one is x+2, and the fourth one is x+3. And these all add up to 762. So we have an equation and it looks like this:\[x+(x+1)+(x+2)+(x+3)=762\]

OpenStudy (imstuck):

of course since all those x's and numbers are added together we can remove the parenthesis and add all the like terms. 4x+6=762

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Solve that for x: 4x=756 x=189. So the first term is 189, because the first term is designated as x. So the fourth term, x+3 is 189+3 which is 192.
