You can first rewrite the quadratic equation as \(x^2+8x-24 = 0\). Do you remember how to apply the quadratic formula to solve such an equation?

That's okay. Recall that if we have a quadratic equation \(ax^2+bx+c=0\), it's solution is given by the quadratic formula \(x=\dfrac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\). In your case, a=1, b=8, and c=-24. What do you get when you plug everything in? :-)
