How can constraints be used to model a real-world situation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

areas cant be negative. distances cant be negative. constraints allow for practical answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that answer the question fully ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not an answer i would put on an exam. but you can definitely see the idea for an answer. why cant areas be negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand the question at all , do yu have any examples of a real world situation i may be able to use in my answer ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you need to build a pen with width x and length y for some animals. but you only have 800ft of fence. why does it make sense that the constraints would be x(800-x)=area

OpenStudy (anonymous):

800-x=y beacuse you only have 800 ft of fence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

another constraint of that would be y+x=800. why?
