Will give medal and fan! The triangles are similar by the AA similarity postulate. Find the value of x. Round your answer to the nearest tenth.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1406121933741:dw| the 70 and 110 are the angle degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gasp :>

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why do these things have to be so confusing? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ikr i just hate math so much...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

math hates you too. I know. she told me. haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol good cause I never wanna see her again ><

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But you do. So let's get to work. The trick here is to look at these two triangles separately :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1406123442979:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i understood that part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We know that these two triangles are similar, so... all we need to know is what's called the scale factor :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, what's the length of the base of the larger triangle?|dw:1406123578312:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you combine them both its 6 right..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for someone who hates maths, you certainly know your way around her haha|dw:1406123746834:dw| What about the base of the smaller? (btw... no offense, but aren't you a little too old for this stuff? ^^)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

smaller one would be 3. (and actually im just useing the titel of Alan Cumming because he plays Nightcrawler in X-men 2 lol, im really a 15 year old girl whos into roleplay stuff like this ><)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

using* title* i cant spell today!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or are you? :) Actors live on deception ;) Anyway, yes, it's 3.|dw:1406124038406:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 is half of 6, right? In similar triangles, the scale should be the same for all the sides. Meaning x should also be half of its corresponding side in the bigger triangle. So x should be...? ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2.5...o-o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That wasn't so hard, was it? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol blinded by the difficult concept of math again and you caught me i really am a 25 year old who cant math so im exercising my brain to become smarter than i already am

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And I'm... an eternally young brat >:D Kidding ^^ Just a 9th grader who's actually studying this sort of thing right now :>

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hahaha smart kid you going into 9th grade or in the transition to 10th

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9th grade now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wow now I really feel dumb a 9th grader just taught me math :< lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh don't worry... I'm sure after ten years or so, I'd have forgotten about this stuff XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I still dont get the use of math you wont really use it unless you're like an architect or account like geometry but you still gotta learn it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

accountant* stupid phone -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok anyways thanks for the help kid
