unless its like teacher notes then i would word for word

writing every word down is inefficient
some facts might be irrelevant, even if they are said in the lecture
... but writing only the main facts might leave out important "smaller" ideas, so that's why you should listen for key words, to help you remember the main facts and the little things that tie it all together
