can someone help me with these? What is the f of x over the g of x when f(x) = 6x3 - 19x2 + 16x - 4 and g(x) = x - 2? and What is the quotient when 2x3 + x + 3 is divided by x + 1? thank you!!!

OpenStudy (imstuck):

The second one can easily be done using long division or the much shorter synthetic division. ARe you familiar with either of these?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am sort of familiar with both but not very well

OpenStudy (imstuck):

We can use synthetic division here because there is no coefficient with the x in x+1. So lets' do that. First you have to realize that x+1=0 and x = -1. So -1 is the number you will be dividing into the polynomial. Like this:
