OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS GEOMETRY PROBLEM!!! MEDAL AND FAN@!!@#$#

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

OpenStudy (imstuck):

angle 4 is 35 degrees.

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

THANKS SO MUCH!!! HOW DID U FIND IT OUT? @IMStuck

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

@IMStuck

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i found out too, she's right its 35, its a long process

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ima quickly get thru this lol

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

CAN U GIVE A BRIEF EXPLAINATION?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok first look at teh pic and ignore line b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you will see two parellel lines and a transversal with degrees

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

OKAY

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k one thing we both know about transveals is vertical angles are congruent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

vertical angles are diagonal angles.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and angles 3 and 125 degrees are vertical angles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u see how angle 3 and angle 125 degrees are vertical?

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

YES I DO

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ack!!! plz plzplzplzplz forgive me i made a mistake. ok look at angle 1, u notice how its obtuse adn angle 125 is obtuse. they are correspoding- meaning they are on teh same side. they are congruent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u get that?

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

YES I DO SO ANGLE 125 AND 1 ARE OBTUSE AND ANGLE 3 AND 125 ARE VERTICAL CORRECT?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k good! ur doing so well but ur wrong in one area. angle 3 adn angle 125 are not congruent. rather angle 3 is congruent to angle 4 because they are alternate interior.

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

SO angle 3 and 125 are not vertical angles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so look at it like this: angle 1 adn angle 125 are on the same sideof that transversal, which means they are corresoponding. they are both obtuse. they are congruent now if look at the two parrelel lines like an equal sign, you will see that angle 3 adn angle 4 are inbetween them, and they are diagonal, this means they are alternate interior. they are congruent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ill give u a little time to lok at ur picture again to see what i am saying

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u understand, did u look at the picture while you were reading my response?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are u there??

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

yas

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not to get off topic, but i think i know you. there's a person who goes to myy school her name is jessica gonzales. but i think its coincedence lol.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but anyways, i think its just a coincedence. so do u know that when two angles are next to each other on a straight line what it means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm hellooo??

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

hey thanks so much!! so that is hhow m<4 ==35

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well that's just the start, but to end things: angle 1 and 2 are suplementary and if angle 1 equaals 125, it means 180-125=angle 2. and that means angle 2 is 55. and then u'll see the right angle. so 90+55+angle 3=180. when u solve for angle 3, you will get 35. and as i said before, angle 3 and angle 4 is congruent. so angle 4 is 35 as well. make sure to review what i said before if u hav any questions!! :D i hope u understand
