ok for this graph you need to determine the vertical and slant asymptotes vertical: set denominator equal to 0 x+2 = 0 ---> x = -2 slant: use long division to get quotient (this line is the asymptote) ____x +1____ x+2 | x^2 +3x+5 -(x^2 +2x) ------------- x +5 -(x + 2) ---------- 3 Finally, plot 2 points on either side of vertical asymptote (pick an x-value on either side) Draw the graph
