Which transformation of energy occurs in a hydroelectric power plant?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in a hydro electric power plant water is made to fall from great heights. initially the water has potential energy as it is stored at a great height.when the water is made to fall, potential energy is transformed into kinetic energy. this rotates the turbines beneath.(P.E+K.E=MECHANICAL ENERGY). the turbines are connected to a dynamo to convert mechanical energy into electric energy.thus in a hydro electric power plant mechanical energy is transformed into electric energy.

OpenStudy (masumanwar):

In hydroelectric project a electric dynamo rotate by using high speed water flowing in turbine blade is actually converting natural mechanical energy to electric energy
