cos^2x (1+tan^2x)=1

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\(\LARGE\color{blue}{ \cos^x(1+\tan^x)=1}\) \(\LARGE\color{blue}{ \cos^x(1+\frac{\sin^2x}{\cos^2x})=1}\)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

then apply, `sin²x+cos²x=1`

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would turn to cos^x(sin^2x+cos^2x)=1

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

when you multiply cos²x times 1, you get cos²x. When you multiply (sin²x / cos²x) × cos²x, what do you get ?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

(btw- if you want to know how to type these symbols, I can share with you:) )

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Wouldn't `cos²x` cancel ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes im so lost in all of the trig stuff I don't even get my notes
