two-fifths of caps in a box are red, one-fourth are blue, and the rest are green. What is the ratio of the green caps to the blue caps?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First thing to do is get common denominators so what is common factor of 4 and 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer's 7.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait nevermind

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7:5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or 7/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get up to the Adding both of them part. But what after that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so you have 8/20+5/20 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah. Adding them gets me 13/20. What After that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok now since all the caps in a box would be 20/20 since that equals 1 you have to subtract 13 from 20.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7? So, how does it makes 7:5 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So now you just have to know the ratio of Green to blue so since you know that in the box for every 7 green caps in the box there are 5 blue caps. or 7:5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you understand or do you need a little more help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you very much. That was very Helpful ^_^
