why the melting point of ice is 0 degree Celsius ?

by definition. Celsius (or centigrade) is defined based on the freezing and boiling points of water. There's nothing particularly special about water, other than there's a lot of it around, and it's easy to work with. So when Celsius was working with defining heat and temperature, he used water as the basis for a new temperature scale.
