Yes Lion King would be similar to Macbeth, because Scar is Macbeth, an ambitious, greedy and treacherous being, blinded by power and wealth.

Macbeth and the evil queen have the same reactions when their future was foreseen by the three sisters/mirror. At first, both of them liked what they hear, the queen is the finest of them all, Macbeth is going to become king. However, horrible events took turns; the queen learns that she's no longer the prettiest, but it's snow white. In Macbeth's case, your heir will not sucede the throne. Their rage at the turn of fate drove them to conspiracy/murder in order to achieve what they want. They both failed at the end.

Most people choose Lion King as a comparison, but Snow White would be just as perfect. As long as you can prove it well, either of them can be the better choice.
