The center of a circle is (2,1) and the coordinates of a point on the circle are (7,13). What is the equation of the circle?

@SolomonZelman plz help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@campbell_st plz help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jdoe0001 plz help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm let me see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just need an answer thats it

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

|dw:1406322636863:dw| can you see what the "radius" of that circle is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its 13

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

find the distance from the centre to the point on the circle... that will be the radius the general form is \[(x - h)^2 + (y - k)^2 = r^2\] the centre is (h, k) and the radius is r. subsitute your centre h = 2 and k = 1 and then your calculated value of r... hope it helps

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

so find the distance between those 2 points as campbell_st pointed out get the radius, and plug it in the equation as shown above :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

13 is the radius, well done
