What is the equation of the line that passes through the points (-1, 3) and (1, 11)? (4 points) Question 16 options: 1) 4x - y = 1 2) 4x + y = 1 3) x - 4y = -13 4) 4x - y = -7
Start by finding the slope of the line, or rate of change. This can be found by doing something like this: y2 - y1 / x2 - x1 Once you have calculated that, plug in that number where 'm' is in the slope-intercept function: y = mx + b Now you need to find the y intercept (b). Choose either one of the ordered pairs and plug it into the x and y values of your slope-intercept function (INCLUDING what you got for the slope as m) respectively. Whatever you get for b is your y intercept. Now substitute the value you got for m (the slope) in the equation: y = mx + b. Then put your b value (y-intercept) in. Now just convert the equation into standard form by subtracting y from both sides and subtracting b from both sides. Hope this helped. If anything didn't make sense let me know.
