|dw:1406344258552:dw|
hey @ganeshie is this right converting 40 to base 10. 4*51=20 0*50=0 Adding all to get Ans=2010 Step2 converting 2010 to 11 The equation calculation formula for 2010 number to 11 is like this below. 11|20 11|1|9 11|1|1 Ans:1911
40 conversion looks good to me, copy of ur work in latex : \(\large (40)_5 = 4\times 5^1 + 0\times 5^0 = (20)_{10}\)
i dont know how to do that
just copy paste below lines in ur next reply : ``` \(\large (40)_5 = 4\times 5^1 + 0\times 5^0 = (20)_{10}\) ```
okay thx
:) @mijingue do they want the result in base 5 or base 10 ?
five
Ahh then its easy to subtract directly in base 5 : |dw:1406344784982:dw|
since 0 is less than 1, we borrow a 5 from the 5's place : |dw:1406344924322:dw|
was there a typo ? is it 40-21 or 30-21 ? which one is it ?
30-21, i totally did the wrong one in the subject
Alright, then we're done the result should be `4` in base 5
so 4 is the answer?, basically it is just like a subtraction
its not like a subtraction, it IS a subtraction !
I mean, a regular one
what about 101base2 + 111base2?
we're just using groups of 5, 5^2, 5^3,... instead of the regular groups of 10, 10^2, 10^3,...
