OpenStudy (superhelp101):

What is involved in the collection of gas by water displacement, and why is it important that the water level inside and outside the gas collection tube are the same before the volume measurements are taken?

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

@Abhisar :)

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

this is what i said btw Water displacement gas means that, the amount of gas that is collected in the container and the pressure of the gas pushes the water out of the container. You could find the volume of gas, which is the amount of water being displaced. Water displacement by gas can only occur with gas that is insoluble in water. We change the level of water so the pressure of the container is the same inside and outside the container. The pressure of the container is the same inside and outside. The ideal gas law will help you find the number of moles of gas. :p

OpenStudy (abhisar):

We `change the level of water` so the pressure of the container is the same inside and outside the container. The pressure of the container is the same inside and outside. ???

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

i mean adjust the level of water

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

so is it okay?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

yeah it looks ok to me :)

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

okay thanks ≧◠◡◠≦✌
