OpenStudy (bbb911):

Rewrite with positive exponents, and simplify, if possible. will write the equation

OpenStudy (bbb911):

\[\frac{ 8xz }{ 9y }^{-1/2}\]

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so the whole fraction has the exponent of -1/2 applied to it?

OpenStudy (bbb911):

the fraction is supposed to have parentheses around the 8xz and 9y then i think the -1/2 is applied to it

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (bbb911):

np :)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

when you have a negative exponent, you can make the exponent positive by flipping the fraction so we use this rule |dw:1406353798262:dw|
