What are the similarities between the Distance and Midpoint Formulas?

similarity would be that you can calculate the midpoint from the distance and the distance from the midpoint as midpoint is 1/2 d and distance is twice the midpoint

and difference would be that the midpoint is half of the distance, so would not give you the same answer quantitatively as the whole distance
