Does r play any role into this
and would -27 be the wrong answer?

I got -27 by doing this and I have no idea what I just did*

r = <8, 1, -6>; v = <6, 7, -3>; w = <-7, 5, 2>

(6(-7)) + (7(5)) + (-3(2))
-56 + 35 + -6
-27
