Evaluate the expression v*w Given the vectors r=<8,1,-6>; v=<6,7,-3); w=<-7,5,2> Does r play any role into this and would -27 be the wrong answer?

OpenStudy (kainui):

r isn't involved here, can you show me how you got to -27? You're trying to find the dot product and not the cross product of these vectors right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup the dot product* I got -27 by doing this and I have no idea what I just did* r = <8, 1, -6>; v = <6, 7, -3>; w = <-7, 5, 2> (6(-7)) + (7(5)) + (-3(2)) -56 + 35 + -6 -27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1+1=3

OpenStudy (kainui):

6*(-7)=-42

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops* (6(-7)) + (7(5)) + (-3(2)) -42 + 35 + -6 -13*

OpenStudy (kainui):

That's better =)

OpenStudy (kainui):

As in, you're right haha good job.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, because I was pretty much wondering what the r set was doing in the given equations. Haha Thanks!
