how to verify rolle's theorem on |9-x^2| on [-3,3] ?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

well 3^2 = (-3)^2 so f(3)=f(-3) = 0 first derivative f'(x) = -2x = 0 ---> x = 0 0 is in interval [-3,3]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does the |9-x^2| signify? how is it different from just 9-x^2 @dumbcow

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

oh shoot sorry i didn't notice the abs value well it signifies that function is always positive |dw:1406607996419:dw|
