Was Abraham a religous leader?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Abraham who?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Abraham Lincoln? That is debatable.. he believed in God, but that doesn't make him religious.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It just says Abraham but im guessing its the president

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

For most of his life he was not.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then No

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well im given a few catagorys and i cant figure out which one he's in

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Good question actually :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Prophets Messiah Main holy book House of worship Religious leaders Holy sites Sects Basic beliefs These are the colums

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some are quite obvious that hes not

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I don't think that he fits any of them well enough, besides Basic beliefs, that he DID have.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well those i have one god and afterlife in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basic beliefs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Only One That Fits Him Is Basic beliefs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he is talking about abraham for the bible

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is everything im given

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OOOOHHH

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just give me a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One minute you guys. I dont have my computer on the charger and its about to die

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He Was A Prophet .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok im back

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He Was A Prophet .

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yes ? Then he is (as I believe) a very Righteous person. He kept (almost) all commandments God, besides the time with 'Hagar' which is debatable if he transgressed anything, since it is believed that Sarah has never freed her. I wouldn't call him Prophet.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I learned "Torah" but it is 99% not how they teach in school.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would we put him under religous leader?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will finish the chart and post it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As I Quote ''The bosom of Abraham - medieval illustration from the Hortus deliciarum of Abimelech was informed that Abraham was a prophet who would pray for him''

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats In Le Bible ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He Was A Prophet

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Defining prophet as someone who had a prophesy once or a couple times, but not on a regular basis.... ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Go Read

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

-:( I won't argue proposing my sources... I don't want to confuse anyone. Good discussion:) Bye!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thnx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im finishing the chart right now

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I, as an Orthodox Jew, do not believe that what people add into wiki is true, as opposed to what I read in my books. Let's just not argue, it's reason-less to argue in this case.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I Got Le Quote From The Bible . Believe Now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um church of nativity is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first person in the Bible to be called a prophet was Abraham, the “Father of the Faithful.” It is important to notice also, that it was God who gave him this title. The story is found in Genesis 20:6-7. A heathen prince had taken Abraham’s wife, and God commanded him to restore her, saying of Abraham, “he is a prophet. . . .” (the Hebrew word is “nabi” as it is also in Arabic). Without doubt there were other men before Abraham who were prophets. Enoch was one, for instance (compare Genesis 5:24 with Jude 14). But Abraham was the first person to be designated a prophet by the clear Word of God. Many God-appointed prophets arose after Abraham.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Hebrew word is Navi, not Nabi, the renunciation is off. Also, you said that without doubt there were prophets before Abraham? Who ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Enoch Was. He Wasnt Designated By God Tho

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

OMG no he wasn't ... I am not arguing about this !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol

OpenStudy (paki):

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing :)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

This is where the opinions differ. I take Jewish sources as authentic, and if you deny you just don't know.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

You are getting this information, but from where ... ?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I got my sources from Torah, and Talmud that I have finished. (Torah 4 times, and talmud 1s entirely)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Then God said to him in the dream, "Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also kept you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her. 7"Now therefore, restore the man's wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours." 8So Abimelech arose early in the morning and called all his servants and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were greatly frightened.…"

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I am not going to argue against a copy paste from I don't even know where, no offense.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://biblehub.com/genesis/20-7.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its From Le Bible Hun

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well you can read its from biblehub.com

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And Here

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

see? biblehub? Where do they know this from?.... but I know he wasn't a prophet. English old testament, is just a very bad copy of Jewish 'Torah'.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

They miss and add so many things. That's what I am trying to say. They do admit that 'Torah' is the original old testament. But read the 2, and you get totally different information from them.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I am being too personal here... sorry. I guess the best would be to stop this argument. It is useless.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Even Everyone In My Household Agrees With Me And My Father Says Take Yous Evidence And Get You're Noble Prize

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And My Step Mum Said Go Back To You're Country .... Ooops

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lmao

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ill take a look

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It looks just about right. Can anyone prove any of it wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u should give me a medal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well i want to see if anyone can prove you wrong :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He Could Be A Messiah Bc God Promised It To Him After Words But Before He Was A Prophet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But In Le World History School Text Book It States Only Jesus Was The Messiah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well this is 9th grade world history so there prob not going to go into FULL detail

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im Talking About The School TextBook

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So is he correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well where did he screw up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah where?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It Doesnt Go Into When He Was Declared A Messiah Only As A Prophet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In My World His. TextBook

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And Then You Would Be Correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I Am A Christian And My Mother Is Jehovah Witness

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I Know Its Correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
