If you add 13 to four times a certain number, the sum is less than 265. Let x represent the number. Write an inequality that can be solved to find the value of x.

Four times a certain number is written as 4x. Adding 13 to that gives you 4x+13. If it is less than 265, you have 4x+13<265. Can you solve that for x? You do it in exactly the same way you would if this was an equation.
