OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Are these terms in descending order? 4x^2 + 9x - 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Thanks!

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, they are ordered by the size of the exponent (little number in the upper right) on the variable. if not listed, e.g. x , the exponent is 1 if there is no x, the exponent is 0 (because x^0 = 1)

OpenStudy (quickstudent):

Oh, ok. Thanks @phi !

OpenStudy (phi):

so we could write it \[ 4x^2 + 9x^1 - 4x^0 \] to make it more obvious
