The answer is C, but why?

OpenStudy (pinksapphire):

Correct, because the difference is 3...

OpenStudy (vishweshshrimali5):

If we assume that first term is let \(a_{1}\) and common difference is d, then, nth term would be: \[\large{a_{n} = a_1 + (n-1)d}\] You are given that first term is 2. So: \[\large{a_1 = 2}\] Now you are given that tenth term is 29. So: \[\large{a_{10} = a_{1} + (10-1)d}\] \[\large{\implies 29 = 2 + 9d}\] \[\large{\implies 9d = 27}\] \[\large{\implies d = ? }\] Using the value of d, then find out the 20th term: \[\large{a_{20} = a_{1} + (20-1)d}\] \[\large{a_{20} = 2 + 19d}\] Using the value of you calculated above find out \(\large{a_{20}}\)
