OpenStudy (anonymous):

contrast the ways in which lamarck's and darwin's thinking are similar and which ways different

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

Either this is an example of a bad grammar or it is a trick question, because contrasting similarities is paradoxical. just a snapshot on a very complicated topic: They both believe in evolution- that is changes occur in species. Lamarck's proposal for mechanism was that species evolve about its lifetime like the example of elongation of a giraffe's neck, while Darwin's natural selection is about gradual changes over time. Darwin, thought that evolution does not take place at an individual/species level, but on population.
