what is a term for a reproductive cell
Gamete, I believe.
The eggs and sperm are the reproductive cells. Each mature reproductive cell is haploid in that it has a single set of 23 chromosomes containing half the usual DNA amount. http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=5316

Reproductive cells are called as `Gametes` and other cells are called as `Somatic cells`
my bad sorry thought it was haploid
Haploid is the ploidy of gametes or reproductive cells. Somatic cells can be however both haploid and diploid.
