Which of the following equations violates the law of conservation of mass? FeCl3 + 3NaOH yields Fe(OH)3 + 3NaCl CS2 + 3O2 yields CO2 + 2SO2 Mg(ClO3)2 yields MgCl2 + 2O2 Zn + H2SO4 yields H2 + ZnSO4

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

I think what you are looking for here is, which reaction is not balanced?

OpenStudy (lovelyharmonics):

a and d are defiantly balanced but im not sure about b and c

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

I agree that a and d are balanced.

OpenStudy (lovelyharmonics):

the only part that was tripping me up was the 02 for both b and c, but i see now that both sides =6 on choice b so it would have to be c right?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Yup. :)

OpenStudy (lovelyharmonics):

i have 2 other questions is it okay if i tag you in them?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Sure.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Thanks for asking. :)
