well multiply the 1st equation by 5 and the 2nd equation by 8... and then add the equations, this will eliminate q. 

40p + 40q = 95
40p - 40q = 160
----------------
80p = 255

now solve for p... 

when you get p, just substitute it into either equation to find q

well 255/80 = 3. 185   or something like that... I did it as mental arithmetic... I don't have a calculator...
