MEDAL FOR ANSWER........... Choose the correct sum of the polynomials (4x3 - 2x - 9) + (2x3 + 5x + 3). IS IT B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the options

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mb yo,this is the Q: Four polynomials are shown below: A. 3 - 7x5 + x2 B. 5x3 + 5 - 3x C. 3x + 2x3 - x2 + 6 + 2x D. 3x3 - 5 + 2x5 + x + 2x2 Which of the above polynomials is a 5th degree trinomial? Polynomial A Polynomial B Polynomial C Polynomial D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it b..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no degree is the highest power which option has a number raised to the 5th power

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@YanaSidlinskiy that was my guess but A has ^5 also?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its either a or d :l

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im almost completely sure it's D but could be wrong

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Give me a sec:D Lemme see:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :)

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

It's A.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait no looking for a trinomial A is a trinomial D isn't

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Want to know why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

o,kio just explained,thanks xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

skipped over that part sorry thanks yana :)

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Welcome!!:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm think i should go redo this test then i thought i just wasnt getting it didnt know they asked for a specific nomial

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

We all need too:) 5x^3 + 5 - 3x is of degree 3 largest exponent = degree (for single variable polynomials)
