Explain why a tigon or a lion is not considered a species.
a lion is an individual it doesnt make up the entire species of cats
i have no idea what a tigon is, is it a japanese soft-toy
a species is a group of living organisms consisting of similar individuals capable of exchanging genes or interbreeding.
@PRAETORIAN.10 a liger is has a lion father and a tiger mother. A tigon has a tiger father and a lion mother .... they are produces as a result of mating of indivuals of u different species
each specie has its own genetic make up (which is very closely related among all indiviuals of that specie) and hav fixed number of chromosomes... lions and tigers are two different species ... have different gentic make up ...but both hav 38 chromosomes.. as tigon is produced by mating of a lion a tiger so it wil hav half chromosomes from tiger and half from lion... a new genetic make up wil form which nor resemble cmpletley with any of the specieof lion or tiger... hence, tigon and lion are not same specie... they are new artifical specie produced by artifical breeding having genetic make up and characteristics which are mixture of tiger and lion specie and dont match cmpletely with any one of it ..
