OpenStudy (driftracer305):

for a particular angle theta, the cosine function f(x) = a cos b(theta) has the following values within one cycle of the function...:- f(0) = 2, f(pi/4) = 0, f(pi/2) = -2, f(3pi/4) = 0, f(pi) = 2 what is the rule for the cosine function???

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

ok so you need to find a,b you are given 5 points ... plug them in and yo will end up with 5 equations containing a and b you really only need 2 to solve for a,b

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

or you could also plot the points and analyze the graph to determine a,b which represent a -> amplitude b-> frequency ...... period = 2pi/b

OpenStudy (driftracer305):

k so if i take f(pi/4) so = a cos b (theta) = 0...?
