Please help!!! the diameter of a Ferris wheel is 180 feet. find its circumference. give an exact answer and a approximation using 3.14 for pie

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@study100 can you please help me on this... I got 565.20 but it was wrong? did I need to add the pie sign?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or is it 360pie sign?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the equation you had used to find the circumference?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.14 x 180 = 565.20? wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

circumference = pi times diameter

OpenStudy (anonymous):

180 x 2 = 360 pie

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^what @study100 said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it's 565.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not wrong, but I think clarification is what you needed right @chicagochica05 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer was 180 not 360 :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk why it was 180 and not 360 and then it was 180 x 3.14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the equation you get in the book is 2 pi r = Circumference r means radius. In this case, they give you the diameter diameter = 2 times radius so, C = pi * 2 r , OR C= pi * diameter

can you @study100 or @DiotropicInventor help with an area question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The screen of a portable digital device is 4.5 by 3.8 inches find the area of the screen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or is it 17.10
