OpenStudy (averley):

Imagine disease kills 85 percent of the wolf population. How will it affect the other organisms?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wolves are an apex predator, this means that they play a very critical role in the ecosystem or habitat in which they live, wolves help keep in check the other populations such as deer populations, If 85% of the wolf population were to die because of disease, then yes the populations will grow until it finishes off all of their resources, however in a habitat, their are bound to be other predators, which will help to temporarily keep the other prey populations in check, and another thing is that the disease might affect the other populations. a disease won't just appear for example, if it's waterborne, then their is a possibility that another population will die.
