The function g(x) is a transformation of the parent function f(x). Decide how f(x) was transformed to make g(x).

A) Horizontal or vertical reflection.
B) Horizontal or vertical stretch.
C) Horizontal or vertical shift
D) Reflection across the line y=x
It's not C because the X values are the same. It could be B but I'm not sure. Any help would be fantastic!

Look at x = 2
how is y changing when we go from f(x) to g(x)?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It's being divided by 9.
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
how about for x = 3?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Divided by 9 as well.
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
So in general, we can say
g(x) = (f(x))/9
or
g(x) = (1/9)*f(x)

what does that 1/9 out front mean?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It stretches?
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
actually it vertically compresses
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
if you had a point like (1,9) on f(x)
then (1,1) will be on g(x)
