The equation of line CD is y = 3x − 3. Write an equation of a line perpendicular to line CD in slope-intercept form that contains point (3, 1). y = 3x + 0 y = −3x − 8 y = negative 1 over 3x + 2 y = 1 over 3x + 0 i know that the slope will be -1/3 but i want to know how to find b.

b is the y intercept

\[y=3x-3\] \[f(0)= 3(0)+1=1\] If the point is (3,1) notice how Y is equal to 1. Now notice how the y-intercept is also equal to 1. Basically, all you do do is flip it to -3x+3 make it negative, and change it to addition. \[y=-3x+3=1\]
