OpenStudy (help!!!!):

factor fully

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

\[3(x-1)^{2}+5(1-x)\]

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

use \[(a-b)^2=a^2-2ab+b^2\]

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

find out (x-1)^2 using this

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

can u do it?

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

yeah its 3(x^2+2x+1) 5(1-x)

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

just a little wrong \[(x-1)^2=x^2-2*x*1+1=x^2-2x+1\] so \[ 3(x^2-2x+1)=3x^2-6x+3\] okay so far?

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

yes i do, whats the next step?

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

so finally- \[3(x-1)^2+5(1-x)=3x^2-6x+3+5-5x\]\[=3x^2-11x+8\]

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

got this?

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

oh i gotcha, thanks for clarifying, I just didnt know what sums would factor in 3x^2-11x+8

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

np :)
