@dumbcow can you help me again with this one please :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@thomaster can you help me please :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zepdrix hi can you help me please

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

i dont know if i can help with this one... parallel lines have same slope by definition what is there to prove? similar triangles have equal angles and proportional sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dumbcow ? any ideas

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dumbcow do we have to prove it by finding the slope and if they are the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Abhisar hi can you help me with this one and see if what i said is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jdoe0001 can you help me please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@phi hello can you help me please

OpenStudy (phi):

Is there any more background on this question, because it is close to being in the "goofy" category?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no.. lol thats why im confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can we use the distance formula or something bc i dont know what else

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or find the slope

OpenStudy (phi):

we start with prove that parallel lines have the same slope. Step 1) Show we have 2 parallel lines Step 2) Show the slopes of these 2 lines are equal Step 2 is (relatively) easy. Find two points on a line, and find the change in y divided by the change in x Do that for the other line. we will get the same number (i.e. same slope)

OpenStudy (phi):

lines LM and QR are both parallel to the y-axis, and so are parallel to each other. Both of their slopes are undefined. lines MN and RS are both parallel to the x-axis, and parallel to each other their slopes are both zero.

OpenStudy (phi):

lines LN and QS are parallel because both form the same angle with a line parallel to the y-axis (we prove this using similar triangles have congruent angles)

OpenStudy (phi):

now find two points on line LN, and find the slope of line LN

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you so much!!! @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

then finally, find the slope for line QS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yesyes thank you
