I'd say take a look at EAP essays. This test is important in determining your English level when you apply for college/university. Take a look at their prompts. The English standards is also switching to common core testing. So do some research about that, then perhaps find some pratice tests that you can take. Next year will be the first year of the new Common Core curriculum. Books that you should read to prepare you for 10th grade is The Great Ghastby, the Adventure of Huckleberry Finn. The first Chapter of 10th grade English is the American Dream, followed by Transcendentalism, Romanticism, Dark Romanticism. Chapter 4 or 5 is about poetry, so take a look at self reliance poems of Ralph Emerson's poems. This is the English standards of most states in US. I'm not sure where you live but the course will have these same concepts. @MaimiGirl

pretty much same concepts in Texas/California, and those West Coasts states from what I know. But EAP and Common Core test is a must.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks @study100 i will also appreciate if u could provide me some more details or a site that helps me in understanding what u said i have no idea what u talking about as of now.

Also, English in High School is pretty much the same trough out the whole year. You're just getting more into writing essays and taking test.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Read this to know about common core. See if your states adopted it. http://www.corestandards.org/standards-in-your-state/ This is the list of all/ or most stories/poetries/books you have to read in 11th grade if your state adopted Common Core. (starting from pg.140 for 11th grade) http://www.corestandards.org/assets/Appendix_B.pdf

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you live in California? There's different Released Tests for each state, you can look at those too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For ex: California's one: http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/documents/rtqgr11ela.pdf

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am going to 10th

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@VoshiNova If we are going to write essays, do you know any site that will help me in writing??????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@study100 my state also has not adopted Common core standards.....does that make english easier for me as a sophomore ?
